Appointed Counsel

Indigent Defendants are provided appointed counsel in criminal cases and some child support cases. A person is eligible for appointed counsel based on the 2025 Indigent Eligibility Guidelines.

Wood County follows the Standards and Guidelines for Appointed Counsel Reimbursement set forth by the Office of the Ohio Public Defender and also the Resolution adopted by the Wood County Board of County Commissioners.

Application for Appointment

Attorneys interested in being appointed counsel in Wood County must complete the application and submit to the Court Administration Office. Attorneys must complete an application yearly to continue placement on the list. The attorney is responsible for updating their application if their eligibility changes.
